Preventive & Diagnostic Services

Comprehensive Oral Evaluation

Our mouths are an ever changing environment. Especially in pediatrics as bodies grow, habits change and baby teeth transition to adult teeth. Our exams and preventative services are designed to keep you informed on both current and future needs of your child’s oral health. Early detection is key for family education and minimally invasive treatment options.

Dental Cleanings

Dental cleanings allow for professional removal of plaque and calculus accumulations while giving our team the ability to assess gum health, facial growth, dental development, and foster a positive relationship with dentistry.

Remineralizing Treatments

Fluoride remains one of the most effective tools in dentistry to help protect against developing tooth decay. Our office follows the evidence based best-practice guidelines of the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in recommending fluoride varnish application at cleaning visits. Our providers respect individual preferences in delivery of care to your child.

Digital X-Rays

Dental x-rays allow for us to assess parts of the mouth and teeth that are otherwise not able to be evaluated. These include screening for decay between the teeth, bone health, presence of infections, and permanent tooth development. These metrics are necessary for informed treatment planning. Our digital x-rays allow for instantly available high resolution clear images all while using significantly less radiation than traditional x-rays. Our office uses x-rays only when clinically appropriate for your child’s age and individual needs

Home Oral Care Instructions

Consistent and high-quality oral hygiene habits at home are enormously important in creating and maintaining a healthy smile. Home care needs to happen in unison with professional cleanings to get ideal health outcomes. At each visit we tailor our guidance to your child’s age, development, and specific needs. Any needed changes to brushing and flossing technique is reviewed with both patients and parents. We also take the time to review your child’s diet to work with you in identifying any high risk habits, and welcome any questions about home care.

Dental Sealants

Adult molars have deep grooves and pits in their chewing surfaces which create one of the most common spots to get a cavity because of how difficult these spots can be to keep clean. Sealants are a thin, tooth colored coating that get applied into the grooves of the tooth, smoothing out its surface and eliminating the most difficult to clean pits. We recommend dental sealants on adult molars as they are efficient and painless to apply, while providing durable protection. Sealants can provide especially meaningful protection as children transition from parent-led, to parent-assisted, to independent tooth brushing.
